Leather jackets are quite an investment for the wardrobe. They aren’t cheap and offer great comfort and confidence to the wearer. You may be realizing by now that maintenance might be complicated. No worries, we have just the thing to help you. Here are some amazing leather jacket hacks that everyone should know.

Leather Jacket Hacks
Cleaning Hacks

    • Then, wipe it with a soft cloth until the toothpaste is removed.

    • Rub the powder gently onto the oil stain.
    • Clean the affected area with wet wipes.
  3. Cleaning the inner lining
    • Mix vinegar and mild detergent with a cup of water.
    • Use a sponge and dip it into the mixture.
    • Gently clean the inner lining.
  4. Removing mold
    • In a cup, mix rubbing alcohol and water at equal parts.
    • Use a cotton cloth and dip it into the mixture.
    • Gently clean the affected area.
Storing Hacks
  1. Controlling humidity

If you store the leather jacket in a very humid place, it will tend to absorb moisture, which can potentially damage it. However, having no moisture at all can also damage the leather alone. Is there a fix to such a tricky situation? Yes, there is and it is through a humidifier. Remember that the setting must be set within 40 to 50 percent only.

  1. Hanging properly

Do you know that you can wrinkle your jacket by improperly hanging it? Creases and wrinkles can be easily formed with a little help from gravity. To fix this, use a thick coat hanger. This is good in maintaining the jacket’s pristine form.

Softening Hacks
  1. Removing wrinkles
    • Place a cloth over the leather jacket with the wrinkled area beneath the cloth.
    • Use a flat iron and iron the affected area swiftly and briefly.
    • Observe the changes if it smoothens out the wrinkles.
  2. Softening through the help of olive oil, mink oil, or coconut oil
    • Apply a certain amount of olive oil, mink oil, or coconut oil on a sponge or clean cloth.
    • Avoid applying the oils directly to the jacket.
    • Using the sponge or clean cloth, wipe the leather jacket in a circular motion.
    • Afterwards, hang it properly to let it dry.
  3. Softening through the help of rubbing alcohol and Vaseline
    • Spray rubbing alcohol in one section of the leather jacket.
    • After spraying, apply the Vaseline immediately on a sponge or clean cloth and wipe the sprayed section.
    • Spread the Vaseline as soon as the rubbing alcohol evaporates.
    • Repeat the process on other sections of the leather jacket.
  4. Softening through the help of leather conditioner
    • Perform a ‘spot test’ first on the leather jacket. If there is no stain formed, then use the leather conditioner.
    • Read the instructions on how the leather conditioner is applied and follow them strictly.
